Cross-Border Projects – Advancing Innovation through Alliances

EU Project HyAcademy.EU

The EU project HyAcademy.EU, funded by the European Commission, brings together 17 partners in its consortium. It is expected that 180,000 qualified positions will be required directly in the European hydrogen sector, with an indirect demand reaching as high as one million. The need for educational programs that impart skills and know-how across a wide range of hydrogen applications is growing.

The key element for DVGW in this project is the professional refresher training, education, and further qualification of individuals, as well as the recognition of credentials across EU member states.

DVGW’s lead work packages will explore concepts that cover vocational education and training and ensure recognized qualifications within the member states. Additional outcomes of the project include various networks, such as those of educational providers, institutions, schools, and universities.

Collaboration between DVGW Vocational Education and Siemens Energy AG

Siemens Energy has launched an internal initiative to build knowledge about hydrogen as an emerging technology within its workforce. This initiative was supported by an in-house innovation fund and led to the development of the Siemens Energy H2 Academy, consisting of four modules covering the entire hydrogen value chain.

As part of the H2 Academy, DVGW and Siemens Energy collaborated on training concepts. A comprehensive team of experts and speakers, along with availability in English, enhances the program. The international events with Siemens successfully began in 2024.

Key Points at a Glance:

  • Multi-day, comprehensive program with technical depth
  • In-person events
  • English-language sessions
  • International orientation
  • Includes technical excursions, e.g., to Siemens Energy’s electrolyzer production facilities.

As part of a holistic training program on hydrogen, DVGW Vocational Education and Siemens Energy have developed an exclusive educational project for Siemens employees. The seminar content provided a detailed overview of hydrogen applications.

Since early 2025, DVGW Vocational Education, under the umbrella of the H2 Academy by DVGW, has been offering the developed content to all interested parties through the event “Hydrogen 360° – From Production to Application,” which includes a 3-day seminar and preparatory e-learning.
